Madrid: where we stayed

where we stayed in MadridThis is going to be the last post about my long weekend in Madrid- where we stayed. I think we managed to find the ideal location- a really cute airbnb on the 7th floor of a building on Gran Via. It was super close to Santo Domingo station on the Metro, which was great for when we were going back to the airport with our bags, but for the rest of the time the apartment was in the centre of town so we didn't need to take the Metro and just walked everywhere.

What I wore in a Madrid heatwave

What I wore in a Madrid heatwave
I didn't take outfit pictures every day in Madrid- it was pretty intensely hot, reaching up to 40 at one point (which is why my hair isn't looking it's best...), but I did manage to snag these pictures of me on the Saturday, when we visited two of the most picturesque places in Madrid, in my opinion- the botanical gardens and the crystal palace

Madrid Day 3 and 4: Rosaleda and the Temple of Debod

Madrid Day 3 and 4: Roselada and the Temple of Debod
For the Sunday of my long weekend in Madrid, we decided to visit the Temple of Debod- an Egyptian temple which was transported to Spain! We also checked out the nearby rose garden in the parque del oeste.

Madrid day 2: Parque del Buen Retiro and Mercado de San Miguel

Madrid day 2: Parque del Buen Retiro and Mercado de San Miguel

After we'd visited the Botanic Gardens, we went on to the Parque del Buen Retiro. It's a huge park and it was nice to get into the shade and relax a little.

On the way to the park, we spotted this 'nutelleria'. I wish I'd gone and got some food, but it was waaay to hot to eat anything. The Parque del buen retiro was huge and there weren't too many people there- probably most people were sheltering indoors from the sun. We found a nice shady bench and had a beer and some ice cream.

One of the main reasons I wanted to go was to see the crystal palace there- it was really pretty!

After the park, we decided to head back to the airbnb and get out of the heat- it was a heatwave, after all.

In the evening, we went out for another walk around Madrid. We grabbed some macarons and tapas at Mercado de San Miguel while we were out. (Macarons are kind of our thing).

We then wandered over to the Royal Palace again to check out the sunset and the night time scenery.

The next day, we went to the Temple of Debod and the Rosaleda of the Parque del Oeste which were both really photogenic! My post on that should come out in a couple of days, so be sure to stick around :)

Madrid day 2: Chocolatería San Gínes, Real Jardín Botánico

Madrid day 2: Chocolatería San Gínes, Real Jardín Botánico

For breakfast on our first full day in Madrid, we decided to go for churros! And after churros, we had a good couple of hours exploring, including one of the places I'd most wanted to go to in Madrid- the botanic garden Real Jardín Botánico.

Madrid day one: arrival and exploring the city

Exploring Madrid
So in mid-June, I finally got to visit Spain~ As a British person, not visiting Spain until I was 21 makes me somewhat of a rarity, especially because I'd studied Spanish for 7 years (although to be honest my Spanish is pretty rusty...) Unfortunately, I managed to arrive in Madrid in the middle of a heatwave, and with temperatures of up to ACTUAL 40 DEGREES (!!) we didn't do toooo much, but we did manage to chill and see some sights.

Current favourites

Another favourites post coming at you today. I've been a little obsessed with fancy tea lately, which means I've got a lot of tea related items in this months' favourites. I have a couple of beauty items and the cutest book too, so if you like things which taste yummy and look adorable, I think I've got a couple of things you'll love this month!

Empties post #5

Empties
Back with another empties post! I had so many half full bottles of stuff at home, and I've managed to get through quite a few in my quest for a more minimal beauty shelf. A lot of bath things this time round (because we have a bath at home <3). Also, some of the things this time were gifts that were quite luxe-feeling, so I'm kinda sad to see them go!

What I wore in London

What I wore in London

Although my family home is pretty near London, I go to Leeds uni so I don't really visit Lunnern town too often. I did go the other week, my sister and I went to a couple of exhibitions and did some shopping, and while we were out I got her to take a couple of outfit snaps because I loved this outfit- it was just so me. A bit grunge, my staple denim jacket and docs, and I think my hair was looking kinda cute too, ngl.

London with Lizzie: Japanese Architecture, Covent Garden and Skinnydip

London with Lizzie: Japanese Architecture, Covent Garden and Skinnydip
I dragged my sister up to London to see a couple of exhibitions: Japanese architecture since 1945 at the Barbican and "anime architecture" at the house of illustration, and we also squeezed in some shopping~ I love Japan, architecture and anime, so it seemed like a perfect game plan.
