Leeds uni has loads of amazing brutalist architecture, and I really wanted to take advantage of it and do some more casual, Japanese street-style inspired photoshoots here. This one was actually taken near the library, which is kind of fitting because I'm in final year now, and the pressure of final year plus dissertation has sort of precipitated an existential crisis on my part (that's why posts have been pretty slow around here lately... sorry). But yeah, definitely look forward to some more brutalist architecture featuring in my posts (if I can convince my boyfriend to take some more pictures of me that is).
The photos were shot on my DSLR, and it was getting dark so we had to use a higher ISO, but I'm kind of into the grainy, low-res quality of these shots- I think it adds to the vibe. To be honest, "it's grunge" or "it's rock n roll" is my go-to excuse for anything which is a bit rubbish or broken- from the holes in my tights to my barely legible handwriting. You guys should try using it! I'm trying to come to terms that I'm never going to be one of those perfect neat girls that have perfect neat handwriting, never drop things or fall over and never rip their tights... It's no use trying to hold yourself to an unattainable standard. So when I break something, I try and laugh it off and tell myself "it's grunge".
So about what I'm actually wearing. I'm still so on board with fishnets... I think now I've finally had the courage to start wearing them, they'll be a pretty common fixture in my outfits for a while. I've also been wearing the heck out of this jumper- I bought it in summer when it was kind of too hot to wear it, so now I'm taking full advantage of the gloomy British weather. I'm really pleased with it considering it was only £8 in the vintage kilo sale. And also I will never stop wearing my DMs or the amazing Sukajan I bought in Osaka.
Sukajan jacket// Osaka
Jumper// Vintage
Skirt// H&M
Tights// ebay
Choker// new look
Boots// Dr Martens
Glasses// ebay
Fun fact about these glasses... my boyfriend hates them with a passion. I don't really know why. But it's not going to stop me wearing them!
This face sums up how final year feels..... veeery exhausting :')
How are you guys? I hope you're all having a great 2018!
Thanks for reading!
