My last Tokyo trip (for now) Fireworks, Tokyo Sky Tree and the Imperial Palace

Tokyo Sky Tree
It was my boyfriend's last day in Japan, it was stupidly hot (Japanese summer is ew) so we decided to go on a little date to the imperial palace and have a chilled afternoon before meeting up with some other friends to see the Asakusa fireworks.

From the top of what used to be the keep, you get a great view of the skyscrapers in Otemachi. Tokyo imperial palace view

Although we were hot and pressed for time, it was quite nice to visit the Imperial Palace. However, it's not a place I'd recommend you visit if you've only got limited time in Tokyo- the castle keep is no longer standing, so it's like a nice place to walk around and see the other buildings but it's nowhere near as impressive as other Japanese castles like Osaka, Hikone or Himeiji.

We met up with friends, and we went to a station called Kita senju to see the fireworks from a little further down the river. It was super crowded even though we were further down, so if you want to come and get a seat, come with a groundsheet and claim your spot hours before.

We could see the fireworks and the sky tree, and it was an amazing view:

After the fireworks, we headed back to the Nihonbashi area, did a little Karaoke and then headed back to our airbnb. It was a little place in Nihonbashi and was super central and convenient.

I spent Sunday morning seeing him off at Narita airport :'( And then I headed back to Osaka!  It was more than a little sad leaving Tokyo and not knowing when I'll be back, I've had some really fun times there. On the way home (and my last trip on the shinkansen) I saw Toji temple from the  window, and to finish the day off, I got myself a Starbucks.

Bye for now Tokyo! I'll be back! And when I do return, you'll find me in a little cafe or vintage store in Ura harajuku or Shimokita....
