Kyary Pamyu Pamyu @ KOKO, Camden 20.5.18

Sooo it's been a few months, but it's time to blog about when I saw Kyary Pamyu Pamyu ♡
I saw her right before my exams, but you know what, gigs > exams. (I studied a lot beforehand dw)
I've loved her music since about 2011, when her first hit Ponponpon broke the internet
(in fact, if you go far enough back, there are embarrassing pictures of me cosplaying Kyary's 'Ponponpon' look on this very blog!!). KPP comes to the UK quite a lot, but for some reason I never got round to seeing her live. I'm a big rock fan, and I think some part of me was convinced that KPP wouldn't be as good live. Thankfully, she proved me wrong!


I went with my sister Lizzie (the best gig buddy!)
The queue was insane. I need to start being earlier for gigs again. Seriously, the queue stretched back soo far.

So we didn't end up with a very good view... at all tbh. Kyary herself is pretty short too, which didn't help, ahaha. We had a great time though! <3

It was a shame we didn't get there earlier because the set was amazing- it was a haunted house 'obakeyashiki' with people dressed as yokai like an umbrella with an eye or a 9 tailed fox.

She also had 3 costume changes! and amazing backing dancers :)


She played soooo many songs, including loads I wasn't expecting- album tracks like kura kura, (which is officially the hardest song to sing at karaoke, try it sometime for a laugh) koi koi koi, saigo no ice cream, serious hitomi, cherry bon bon...

of course some old faves <3 like furisodeshon, ninja re bang bang, kira kira kiraa, tsukema tsukeru

lots of her singles- harajuku iyahoi, mondai girl, sai and kou, and Kimi no Mikata which is a certified banger.

Then pon pon pon to finish! I actually cried. Even though her music is a bit inane, it means a lot to me.

Basically, Kyary puts on an amazing show, and I'd highly recommend you go see her for a fun time!

My outfit for the gig was *extra* because why see Kyary if you don't wanna go a bit mad eh?
